Isolation

Geoff attempted to isolate me from anything and everyone from the outside world.  Even though he had a car he tried his hardest to have full control over my car. When he had my car, I wasn’t allowed to drive his.  His attempts to have full control over my car ended when he lost his license due to an unpaid speeding ticket. After that he controlled how much gas was in my car.  

Geoff wasn’t able to fully isolate me, but he did make it very difficult for me to have relations with anyone but him. To the outside world he made it appear that I wasn’t much of one to go out and do anything and that I preferred to stay home.

• I wasn’t allowed to spend any real amount of time around his family or friends.
• When I was around his family or friends I was instructed to not speak to them unless they spoke to me.
• I was instructed not tell anyone about any of my pregnancies or to ever mention any miscarriages.
• No one was allowed to get the mail but him.
• Tried to convince me on several occasions to move to other side of state to an town outside of Seattle.
• After meeting my brother who lives in Seattle, he tried to convince me to move further north.
• I wasn’t allowed to see my friends unless he was there. 
• When I did see my friends without him, he got furious with me and accused me of talking bad about him behind his back.
• When I did see my friends without him he accused me of doing things behind his back that I didn’t want him to know about.
• He listened in on my phone calls.
• Everyone in my life was a bad influence and was trying to break us up.
• I had to come home right after work or school.
• I wasn’t allowed to go anyplace or do anything unless he was with me.
• I wasn’t allowed to go the church.
• I wasn’t allowed to have any association from anyone in my church.
• I was instructed to not to talk to our co-workers about our relationship.
• I wasn’t allowed to spend any time quality time with my daughter, unless he wasn’t home and didn’t know about it.
• When he began to work at the store behind my house, I was instructed to not go to the store anymore, or to talk to anyone there if I did go.
• I had four different cars during the time were together and depending how the car was gas depended on how much gas I was allowed to have in my car.
• I wasn’t allowed to drive my car on his days off from work, he drove me.
• On the days he worked, he took me to work.
• Attempted to manipulate me into taking the bus home from work and leaving my car there for him to drive home when he got off of work.
• Told me I was trying to isolate and control him by not leaving my car at work for him to drive later after he was off of work.
• I wasn’t allowed to take or pick up my daughter from daycare unless he was present.
• I wasn’t allowed to pick my daughter up from school unless he was present.
• He tried to make me tell my supervisor that I need to get off work early enough on the one day out of the week that my daughter got out school early, so he could have my car until his shift ended.
